Groggi Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 1, 2026
Last Updated: October 1, 2026
App Mantra LLC (“App Mantra,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Groggi, an iOS alarm application designed to help users wake up by requiring completion of selected wake-up challenges.
This Privacy Policy explains how App Mantra collects, uses, processes, discloses, and retains information in connection with Groggi. It applies to the current version of Groggi offered in the United States.
Groggi is designed with data minimization in mind. Most of the information associated with your alarms, challenge selections, preferences, and use of the app remains on your device. Groggi does not currently require user accounts or provide cloud synchronization. Certain photo-based challenges, however, require online processing through Groggi’s service providers. Those practices are described below.
The current version of Groggi does not contain advertising or third-party advertising or attribution SDKs. App Mantra does not use information collected through Groggi for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking and does not sell or rent personal information.
1. Information Groggi Processes
Most information generated through ordinary use of Groggi is stored or processed locally on your device. This includes information such as alarm names and times, selected wake-up challenges, Item Search selections and preferences, onboarding status, challenge progress and session state, stopwatch information, and app settings and preferences. Because Groggi does not currently offer user accounts or cloud synchronization, this information is generally not transmitted to or maintained in a Groggi cloud account.
Some features require limited information to leave your device. In particular, the Sky and Item Search challenges use online photo verification. When you submit a photo for either of these challenges, the image is transmitted to a Groggi backend service operating through Cloudflare infrastructure and then submitted to OpenAI for automated visual analysis. The purpose of this processing is to determine whether the submitted image appears to satisfy the challenge you are completing.
A challenge photo may incidentally contain people or faces, personal belongings, documents, screens, objects, or details about your surroundings. You should therefore avoid including information in a challenge photo that is unnecessary to complete the challenge, particularly information that is private or sensitive. Groggi does not maintain a persistent server-side library or history of challenge photos, nor does Groggi maintain a persistent user-level history showing which individual photo challenges you passed or failed.
Groggi also processes limited installation, security, and technical information necessary to operate and protect the service. To authenticate legitimate installations and guard against fraud, abuse, replay attacks, unauthorized requests, and circumvention of service limits, Groggi uses a randomly generated installation identifier together with Apple App Attest. In connection with those functions, Groggi may process App Attest key identifiers, public-key and cryptographic information, counters, request-authentication information, and related security data.
When Groggi communicates with its backend, limited network and technical information is also processed as necessary to complete and protect the request. This may include an Internet Protocol address, request and response metadata, timing information, image dimensions or file size, technical errors, verification-request information, and short-lived rate-limit or anti-abuse information. Cloudflare necessarily receives network information, including the originating IP address, when handling requests to Groggi’s backend. Groggi does not intentionally include your device IP address, alarm name, Groggi installation identifier, or App Attest information in the photo-verification payload submitted to OpenAI.
Groggi maintains limited, short-lived verification-attempt counters to enforce service limits and prevent abuse. These counters measure applicable verification requests and are not maintained as behavioral analytics profiles or persistent records of whether individual challenges were passed or failed.
If you contact App Mantra for support or with a privacy inquiry, we will receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, the contents of your message, and any screenshots, attachments, or other information you include. You should avoid sending sensitive information in a support request unless it is reasonably necessary for us to address your request.
2. How We Use Information
App Mantra processes information only for purposes reasonably related to providing, securing, maintaining, and supporting Groggi.
We use information to operate alarms and wake-up challenges, process Sky and Item Search verification requests, return verification results to the app, authenticate legitimate installations, apply appropriate service and rate limits, prevent fraud and abuse, protect against unauthorized or replayed requests, maintain the security and reliability of Groggi, diagnose technical problems, respond to support and privacy requests, enforce our Terms of Use, protect our legal rights, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Information processed for installation authentication, App Attest, rate limiting, and similar security functions is used for application functionality and service integrity. It is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
App Mantra does not use information collected through the current version of Groggi for targeted advertising, third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or unrelated profiling.
3. Photo Verification and Artificial Intelligence
Sky and Item Search use automated visual analysis to determine whether a submitted image appears to satisfy the applicable wake-up challenge.
When you submit a photo, Groggi sends the image from your device to its backend through Cloudflare infrastructure. The image and the instructions necessary to perform the requested verification are then submitted to OpenAI. OpenAI processes the request using an artificial intelligence model, and the resulting verification response is returned through Groggi’s backend to the app.
Groggi currently uses the OpenAI Responses API for this functionality and configures photo-verification requests with store: false. The current implementation does not use OpenAI Files, Conversations, Threads, background Responses, or a persistent Groggi photo repository for challenge verification.
App Mantra does not intentionally send your alarm name, Groggi installation identifier, App Attest information, or device IP address to OpenAI as part of the verification payload. App Mantra also has not opted in to permit Groggi API content to be used by OpenAI to train its models.
Although Groggi does not maintain a persistent application-level copy of a submitted challenge photo, OpenAI may retain API content for a limited period for abuse monitoring and security purposes under the data controls applicable to its API services. Under OpenAI’s standard API data controls, abuse-monitoring logs may contain customer content and are generally retained for up to 30 days, subject to applicable legal and security exceptions.
Automated visual analysis is probabilistic and may occasionally produce an incorrect result. Groggi uses this processing only to evaluate the applicable challenge. Groggi does not use submitted challenge photos to identify you, create a facial-recognition profile, or determine your identity.
4. Service Providers and Disclosure of Information
App Mantra uses a limited number of third-party providers to operate Groggi. These providers process information only in connection with the functions for which they are used, subject to their respective contractual arrangements and applicable practices.
Cloudflare. Groggi uses Cloudflare infrastructure for backend request handling, security, rate limiting, and related service functionality. Persistent Cloudflare Workers Logs and Workers Traces, including invocation logging, are disabled for Groggi’s production Worker, and Groggi does not currently maintain a persistent Worker-level log or trace destination. Cloudflare nevertheless processes network and technical information necessary to provide its infrastructure services, including IP addresses, and may maintain aggregate service metrics and other information associated with operating its services.
OpenAI. Groggi uses OpenAI for automated visual verification of Sky and Item Search challenge photos. OpenAI receives the submitted image and instructions necessary to perform the requested verification. The scope and configuration of this processing are described in Section 3 above.
Apple. Groggi relies on Apple and iOS functionality for distribution and device-level services, including alarm-related functionality, camera permissions, Keychain functionality, and App Attest. Apple may separately process information in connection with the App Store, iOS, TestFlight when applicable, and other Apple services under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.
App Mantra may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request; investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity; enforce our agreements or policies; protect the rights, property, safety, or security of App Mantra, Groggi, our users, or others; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
If App Mantra is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, information associated with Groggi may be disclosed to appropriate parties as reasonably necessary to evaluate or complete that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate confidentiality protections.
App Mantra does not sell or rent personal information. The current version of Groggi does not use third-party advertising or attribution SDKs, and App Mantra does not use information collected through Groggi to track your activity across other companies’ apps or websites for targeted advertising.
5. Data Retention
App Mantra seeks to retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is processed, subject to legitimate security, fraud-prevention, legal, dispute-resolution, and operational requirements.
Groggi does not maintain a persistent server-side photo library or photo history for Sky or Item Search submissions. As explained above, OpenAI may retain certain API content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days under its standard API data controls, subject to applicable exceptions.
Verification-attempt information used to enforce service limits is intentionally short-lived. Under the current configuration, the longest applicable verification-attempt counter is retained for no more than approximately 48 hours. Other rate-limit and anti-replay information is retained for substantially shorter periods. These records are not used to create a persistent history of which challenges you passed or failed.
Installation and App Attest security records may be retained while an installation remains active. Under the current configuration, applicable installation security records expire following approximately 12 months of inactivity. Activity associated with the installation may refresh that inactivity period.
Persistent Cloudflare Workers Logs and Workers Traces are disabled for Groggi’s production Worker. Aggregate Cloudflare service metrics may remain available independently of request-level Worker logs.
Communications you send to App Mantra may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the request, provide support, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, protect Groggi and its users, enforce our agreements, or comply with applicable law.
App Mantra may retain particular information for a longer period where reasonably necessary or legally permitted for fraud or abuse investigations, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
6. Your Choices and Controls
You control whether to use Groggi’s photo-based challenges. Camera access is required only when you choose functionality that requires the camera, and you may manage Groggi’s camera permission through the settings available on your device. If you do not want a challenge photo transmitted for online verification, you should not submit a photo through Sky or Item Search and may instead use other available Groggi functionality that does not require photo verification.
Groggi also uses applicable iOS alarm-related functionality to provide its core alarm features. Relevant device permissions and settings can be managed through iOS where Apple makes those controls available.
Because most information associated with the current version of Groggi remains locally on your device, certain information can be managed directly through the app or by removing Groggi and its locally stored data from your device, subject to the way iOS manages applicable device-level information.
You may contact App Mantra at support@groggi.app with a privacy or deletion request. Because Groggi does not currently require user accounts, App Mantra generally does not have a name or email address associated with the random installation and security records maintained by its backend. As a result, we may not always be able to associate a particular backend security record with a person who contacts us.
We will not ask you to provide unnecessary personal information merely to attempt to identify a record that is not reasonably linkable to you. Where we can reasonably identify information associated with you and applicable law provides a right concerning that information, we will address the request in accordance with applicable law. Information may nevertheless be retained where reasonably necessary or permitted for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, enforcement of our agreements, or legal claims.
7. Device Permissions
The current version of Groggi uses a limited set of device permissions consistent with its current functionality. Groggi uses alarm-related access as necessary to provide its alarm functionality and requests camera access when you choose to use a photo-based challenge.
The current launch version does not use the microphone or speech recognition for spoken challenges, Core Motion for motion or shake challenges, or precise location, Contacts, Health data, or Bluetooth for the functionality described in this Privacy Policy.
Additional features planned for future versions of Groggi may require different device permissions or information practices. This Privacy Policy describes the functionality currently available. App Mantra will update its disclosures and obtain any permissions or notices required for materially different functionality before or when such functionality is introduced.
8. Children and Teen Users
Groggi is a general-audience application intended for users age 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13.
App Mantra does not knowingly collect personal information online from a child under 13 in circumstances in which parental notice or verifiable parental consent is required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act or other applicable law. If App Mantra obtains actual knowledge that a child under 13 has provided personal information through Groggi in circumstances subject to applicable children’s privacy requirements, we will take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law, which may include deleting the information.
Because Sky and Item Search involve photographs, a submitted challenge photo may incidentally depict another person, including a child. Users should avoid including unnecessary personal information about themselves or others in challenge photos. Groggi does not use the appearance of a person in a submitted challenge photo to identify that person or create a facial-recognition profile.
A parent or legal guardian who believes that a child under 13 has provided personal information to Groggi may contact App Mantra at support@groggi.app.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 should use Groggi only as permitted by applicable law and with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian where required. Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any privacy rights or protections applicable to minors.
9. Information Security
App Mantra uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed through Groggi against unauthorized access, acquisition, use, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These safeguards include measures such as data minimization, limited retention, installation authentication, Apple App Attest, rate limiting, anti-replay controls, and restrictions on persistent operational logging where appropriate to the applicable system.
No application, network, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. App Mantra therefore cannot guarantee the absolute security of information processed through Groggi.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security over your device, Apple account, device credentials, and other information under your control.
10. U.S. Privacy Rights
Depending on where you reside and whether an applicable privacy law applies to App Mantra or a particular processing activity, you may have legal rights concerning certain personal information. Those rights may include the ability to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of certain personal information, as well as rights concerning particular uses or disclosures of personal information.
Groggi’s current data-minimization architecture affects our ability to identify information as belonging to a particular person. Groggi does not currently maintain user accounts, and certain backend security information is associated with a random installation identifier rather than your name or email address.
To make a privacy request, contact support@groggi.app and provide sufficient information for us to understand the nature of your request. We may take reasonable steps to verify a request where required or permitted by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right provided by applicable law.
The availability and scope of privacy rights vary by jurisdiction. Nothing in this section is intended to create a right that does not otherwise apply under applicable law.
